  1. This was a very delightful story I really enjoyed the fact this was written about a very real man from history and not about the fictional man of the modern age And yet Eldridge wove together the facts of this amazing man with just the right amount of magical imagination to create a bold and delightful fresh take on Santa Claus. And to actually read a story that is so incredibly wonderful about this so often forgotten Christian that is does, in fact, adds the perfect touches of enhancements for t [...]

  2. This was an interesting story not quite what I had expected, but interesting nonetheless The author does a very good job interweaving the traditional life story of St Nicholas with the traditional Santa Claus legends as a way to convince his young children that Santa is real I really appreciated how he showed Nicholas as a truly God honoring, normal man The story was clever in how the dwarfs rather than elves , reindeer, and Christmas trees came about This would be a good story for families who [...]

  3. This story tells of Nicholas, the orphan, who later becomes a clergyman and takes it upon himself to give gifts to other orphans on the Festival of Christ He later became a Bishop, all the while continuing this tradition At some point he stumbles upon a dwarf village of expert craftsmen and toy makers, whose primary means of transport is by sleigh and reindeer you see where this is going It tells of how he became Saint Nicholas And in the fervent chanting of his name, Saint Nicholas morphs to be [...]

  4. This story of Saint Nicholas was really quaint and gave me a whole new perspective of the origins of Santa Claus and Christmas I loved the stuff about the decorations, elves, the clothing, the sleigh, and reindeer and many other items we see and use during the Christmas season A wonderful and heartwarming story I was able to read it in about four hours.

  5. This book I can read each year to remind me of the true story about Saint Nicolas Eldridge created an engaging fictional biography of Saint Nicolas that will delight readers young and old of the man that would become the legend.

  6. I must say that Matthew Eldridge s Saint Nicholas the Christmas Story is unique It was a relief to read something that was not a cookie cutter Christmas story about families fighting around the turkey table, romances that ended up in marriage with Santa Clause as the matchmaker, or yet another variation of The Christmas Carol Matthew paints an almost believable picture of how the Santa Clause myth could have been based upon fictional circumstances and events posited upon the historical Bishop of [...]

  7. absolutely beautifulWhat a wonderful, beautiful story of Christmas It brought tears of joy, sadness and live Fact or fiction, this was a lovely Christmas story about the beginnings of Santa Claus I will treasure this story.

  8. A little light on consistency Bishop Nicholas was 9th century, not in the time related in this bookbut even so, wouldn t have been possible to send a telegram Too bad, the author had a good premise going in.

  9. This was an okay story of the legend of Santa Claus, however the actions and dialogue were too modern to make it authentic.

  10. A very fun read about St Nick, a good reminder of what the world has lost regarding the true heart of Christmas.
