  1. Amber, Charles and his brother Garrett This review is in exchange for a fair review through Audiobook Boom. The reader, Meghan Kelly, was actually pretty awful and I know I would have enjoyed this book better in written format But I won t let that effect my review Just FYI.Just after the Civil War, Amber, a fair flower of the South fears becoming an old maid So she finds a good prospect through a mail order newspaper and heads to Kansas where women are scarce Charles, her prospective groom is not [...]

  2. This is not a Christian bookThis book is based on lies, cheating, adultery, deceit, and homosexualiity Had the Author not claimed this book was Christian based storyline would be all right But I don t endure lying I ve read Christian books and this isn t close, by quoting the bible does not make this a Christian book.

  3. I m continuously on the search for new authors so that my extensive reading or listening doesn t get stuck in a rut and occasionally I get plain lucky and stumble across a talented author whose work communicates to me and brings me hours of enjoyment and pleasure and this is what happened when I found the works of the author Barbara Goss. She writes a very easy to read book which I am quite happy to recommend It is filled with many interesting characters and just enough twists and turns to keep o [...]

  4. A Different Take on Mail OrderingAmber, the female lead answers an Ad, moves to Kansas, and is in for a surprise. She meets Charles her husband to be and his brother, Garrett.Things are not as they seem in Kansas, and Amber has a difficult decision to make. There are a few twists that lead to an overall, interesting read. This book did not female like a Christian Read.Meghan Kelly did well with the narration Note This audio book was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in excha [...]

  5. For Fluffy reading onlyDon t expect anything beyond a fluffy story I disliked the basis of Charles character And that everybody knew Everyone would not have known Things like that were never discussed openly Amber would have been horrified to learn that IT was done She was a rich Southern bell and she would have been protected from hearing such things The author tried to insert modern common knowledge into a historical book taking place just after the Civil War.At most a 3star read but the above [...]

  6. I really did enjoy this one it has a plot that you really don t think about when you think of the West and strong young cowboys I kept thinking wow could it be this and then talk myself out of it I can t think of anything worse than planning to marry and having the man you decided on not be interested in you Many things went through my head and it is pretty easy to work out It really is an exciting read that really makes the listener think and contemplate over many issues To say any about the pl [...]

  7. I m not really sure where to start with this book It was not a typical mail order bride story. All Amber Wakefield wants is a husband and children, with a lack of available men in her area she signs up for a mail order bride service But her prospective husband is not who he makes himself seem and she s in for quite a surprise.I felt really sorry for Amber at times in this story, she got a rough deal But it was also really sweet at times and the characters are well written and the story is interes [...]

  8. When you are dealing with strong subjects you will elicit strong reactions The story is skillfully plotted with twists and turns which would have done credit to Peyton Place, characters are clearly drawn, narration AUDIO is nicely voiced, and I had a great time both reading and listening NO SPOILERS but the matter of fact hot topic handling feels 21st century than 19th In fact it was illegal in many countries and generally not spoken of On the other hand the likelihood of its prevalence in a po [...]

  9. Sweet inspirationA very nasty trick to be pulled on someone Charles was indeed a lowlife He only wanted Ambers money Since he himself had a Boyce, he should never have invited her out west Garrett knew about his brother and tried to stop him, but Charles was determined After the truth came out, Amber and Garrett knew they were in love but didn t trust.

  10. You can kind of see where Amber s story is headed in Mail Order Mishap, but there are some fun surprises along the way This was a delightful story of faith and romance that leaves me ready to read the next story from this talented author.

  11. 4 1 2 StarsAudiobook ReviewWell this was certainly I story I wasn t expecting in this series, LOL.Really enjoyable and some very crafty characters to say the least in the book.Great narrative by Meghan Kelly, I really do enjoy her male narrative very much.

  12. Mail Order Mishap by Barbara Goss was a good read Amber traveled to see the man she was to marry But her intended wasn t the man she thought he was Things go awry and she finds herself wanting to go back home I loved reading this book and can t wait to read by Barbara Goss.

  13. I have never read anything like this before What a twist I thought it was great I loved the characters and plot.

  14. 4 stars as a Christian historical western romance.Loved the narrator.Christian romance is not my thing, for those of you that like it, I think you d enjoy this book.

  15. This is very different from other books I ve read and loved of Barbara s The main character is supposed to marry a man who doesn t want her but her fortune Much of this book is about the lies and deception he lives in but I would have loved to have seen him come to faith and redemption as the characters do so often in most of her books His lifestyle is controversial but very common place even from Biblical times He is not portrayed as a believer but I would have not chosen him or his lifestyle f [...]
