  1. I like the illustrations they are colorful and engaging The rhyming starts out fun but ends up feeling very forced with several rhymes of convenience that don t add to the story James s journey through the rain is too long and begins to lose interest The repetitive refrain is fun and right on for young children but is carried on for too long Out of print remake of a 1957 counting book James counts animals he encounters in the rain from 1 to 10.

  2. This book is a fun find It s a counting book about animals doing their favorite activities in the rain The book is written in rhyme, although there are some funny little parenthetical additions that break up the rhythm and meter My favorite part of this book is the illustrations The pictures are colorful and look vaguely like Russian folk art, and it s fun to watch as the animals gradually fill up the pages.

  3. I thought I was going to like this one It started out just fine, but then the rhyming sequences, and the story in general, started to feel forced By the end, I found myself struggling not to just skim the pages.

  4. Jackson 4 years old loves this book I have read it many times I also read it many times 10 years ago when Dylan was 4 years old and loved it.

  5. What a find from the library my 3.5 year old loves this and we ve read it over and over One I d consider buying Poetic and gorgeous pictures Very sweet and interactive read.
